Chata means "mountain cottage" in English. Chata Betsy is located in the small village of Haj, by the ski area of Klinovec. Haj is 2 km from the German border and the town Oberwiesental. Karlovy Vary (a famous spa town) is 20km to the south, and Prague is about 90 minutes away by car. Haj is a tranquil village in the mountains. In the surrounding area there are more than 30 ski lifts. 150km of cross country ski tracks on the Czech side and 250 km on the German side. Please refer to maps; surrounding area, Klinovec and Bozi Dar . The area is a paradise for mountain biking and hiking. Recommended routes are described in Biking and Cross Country Skiing. Every January in neighbouring Oberwiesental are the German cross country skiing championships. The world snowboard championships are taking place near the village, in February 2004. .Chata Betsy is a homely mountain cottage with real fires, self catering, electric heating, and sauna (under development). The village has a wonderful pub offering traditional Czech food. Chata Betsy offers 7 rooms, from double to family rooms. In some rooms there is an ensuite shower and toilet. There is also several sofa beds. Available after Easter, two additional double rooms. The cottage can be rented as an entity for groups, or individual rooms. |
